FiLMiC Multi-Cam Support in iOS 13

Since FiLMiC took to the stage at the September Apple keynote event to provide an early glimpse of multi-cam support coming to FiLMiC in the future, we've been inundated with questions. Here are responses to the most frequently asked questions.

Q1. What Apple devices will be able to support multi-cam capture?

A1:

• iPhone XS/XSMax
• iPhone XR 
• iPhone 11/11 Pro/11 Pro Max 
• iPad Pro 3rd Gen (11" and 12.9") 

Q2: What is the max supported resolution/fps for multi-cam?

A2: The Multi-cam capture api from Apple supports a maximum resolution of 1080p at 24, 25 or 30fps.

Q3: Is it possible to capture two separate files when shooting multi-cam?

A3: Yes absolutely. You will have the option to capture two separate video files, or to capture two lenses as a single PiP video file. You can preview 4 lenses in real time and then choose two to record from.

Q4: Is stabilization supported whilst recording from multiple cameras?

A4: Yes. Multi-cam capture supports Apple's 'standard' stabilization video stabilization on all lenses that support it.

Q5: When will multi-cam capture be coming to FiLMiC?

A5: Multi-cam support is in active development and we hope to make it available as soon as possible.
